Work in progress. John 'Jack' Harvey: The Great War

My art practice has been concerned with representing conflict through the experiences of individuals. This current art project is a creative vision of the Great War as experienced by Jack Harvey. He was a teenage Australian boy who enlisted in World War 1 as a driver in an Australian Regiment of Engineers. When he returned in 1919 he brought home many objects, documents and postcards from his service on the Western Front, put them in a cupboard and, like many others, did not speak about his experiences in the war. Through paintings, sculpture and text I am creating a fictionalised account of the Great War, based on the material Jack brought with him.
